Mulloy's Musings

  • This Just In: Avenue Montaigne

Everyone has their wardrobe staples- a white blouse, go-to-jewelry, or a favorite pair of jeans. Introducing the newest member of that collection: Avenue Montaigne. A line of sleek pants for the modern woman, they're soft, breathable, and best of all flattering. With no buttons or zippers, they look great on everyone and are effortlessly comfortable thanks to a little bit of stretch. Think of them as a business-chic upgrade from your favorite leggings or dark denim.

  • One of our favorite designers, Ashley Pittman, got her start in Finance before a love of East Africa inspired her to start a line of jewelry- one made exclusively by Kenyan artisans designed specifically to aid the local economy. Each piece is handmade using local materials, and a portion of the profits go to the Ashley Pittman foundation, which directly funds schools in Kenya.

For more on Ashley and her foundation:

We here at Patricia love everything about Ashley Pittman- who can't get behind beautiful, unique jewelry for a great cause? Some of our favorites right now are the Hodari Bangle Set and the Densi Earring, but you really can't go wrong with any piece from this collection.

  • Designer Profile: Miansai

One thing's for certain- we here at PATRICIA love our bracelets. On any given day, we wear anywhere from three to ten (yes, 10!) stacked on our wrists. By far one of our favorite looks is mixing classic Miansai cuffs with our Ashley Pittman horn bangles. Each Miansai product, whether a Leather Wrap Bracelet or Gold Screw Cuff, is handmade by Miansai artisans in-house, guaranteeing top-notch quality.

Check out this video, which gives insight into the making of the Miansai Sterling Silver Screw Cuff:

  • Summer temperatures in North Carolina can be erratic. Let's be honest--the rest of the year, the weather is just as unpredictable. Just yesterday morning the temperature was in the high 50s, but now we hear there's a heat wave headed our way! With temps reaching over 100 degrees on Sunday, what's a girl to do?
Well, we here at Patricia live by the saying "Outside is Free," so you can be certain there will be no sitting in the air conditioning waiting out the heat wave. We are cyclists, yogis, and runners, and we will not be stopped by hundred degree weather. We'll simply get up early, get our workouts in, then fight the heat the best way we know how--in the shade with cold drinks in our hands.
Similarly, hot weather is no excuse to stray from Patricia's signature style. We picked out our favorite light, summer pieces to ensure we stay cool this weekend. Here are a few of our favorites:

    • For lounging by the water, Emerson Fry is the way to go. We can't recommend enough this Bikini Top and Bottom, and if you love a good cover-up as much as we do, be sure to check out the Solar Tunic or Mesh Dress. Both are light, airy, and best of all, chic.
    • For running errands or cooking out with friends, check out the Star Caftan. Since it doesn't cling to your skin, you'll stay nice and cool throughout the day.

    • As far as accessories, Miguel Ases earrings add a colorful, summer touch to any outfit, and they're light as can be, which means you'll hardly feel them.

    • The finishing touch to any heat wave ensemble should be this Clare V. Kenya Woven BagAgain the name of the game here is light, and this fiber-woven bag sure is. Plus, there's plenty of room inside for a bkr bottle, sunscreen, and anything else you might need.
After a week of cooler weather, the hotter temps can seem daunting, but not to worry. Take them by storm (pun most definitely intended) and make sure to get outside and enjoy the weekend!

    1. With all the beautiful clothing and jewelry, sometimes we forget to showcase our Home Decor as well. New to our collection this spring was Rose & Fitzgerald, a line of home goods direct from Uganda. Led by a husband and wife, Rose & Fitzgerald began as a way to furnish the couple's home while living in Uganda, but it quickly developed into a line of home goods with an exotic, modern feel.

The majority of the collection is horn, which is ethically sourced from the indigenous Ankole Cow.

Our most popular picks? Above all, the Ankole Horn Whiskey Tumbler Set (in light or dark!), followed by the Pierced Ankole Horn Hurricane.

    2. Designer Profile: Miguel Ases

This week at Patricia was like Christmas in June- Miguel Ases earrings came in! The whole crew spent the week photographing the pieces and building a sleek, modern window display to showcase them. Needless to say, we're all very excited!

Handcrafted in the USA, these 14K gold-fill earrings with semi-precious stones are a work of art. We especially love that Miguel Ases earrings add a pop of color or edge. While we stand by our modern, minimalist color palette, we can't deny how a colorful accessory can transform an outfit into a statement.

Some of our favorites are the Pyrite, Swarovski, and Miyuki Seed Bead Earring, Swarovski, Amethyst, and Fire Opal Earringand the understated Shell, Pyrite, Swarovski, and Miyuki Seed Bead Earring.

      As always, happy shopping!
