This Fall: Feel Good Fashion

...AND ON A POSITIVE NOTE

FALL 2020 MEANS FEEL GOOD FASHION

Lockdown has brought us some good news. Fashion houses everywhere are rethinking their collections, focusing on sustainability and designing apparel that more comfortable than ever.  Some trends we're following this fall:

1. Drawstrings: Designers like Vince and Natalie Busby upgrade casual chic with drawstring pants in luxury fabrics.

2. Luxury T's: Cashmere, linen and specialized blends from Emerson Fry, and LINE keep your look polished.

3. Classic Levi Jeans: High-waisted, button-fly Levi's are here to stay, lockdown or no.

4. Old School Sneakers: Luxury labels are taking a fresh look at sneakers, like these from Tory Burch, in tonal shades that work across your wardrobe.

5. Dresses Over Pants: We love the look with Brazeau Tricot, CP Shades and Jenna K because it transitions our lightweight pieces to cooler weather.

6. Seasonless Style: Designers are introducing pieces in classic cuts and in fabrics that are wearable all year.

AT HOME: DESIGNS TRENDS WE'LL BE SEEING

OBJECTS AS COMPANIONS

“We may finally have arrived at the departure from the function obsession,” according to Architectural Digest. “We are living through the most vivid connecting of dots between objects, spaces, and people. With limited connectivity to your friends and family, your relationship with your home takes a more prominent role than ever before and the objects around you become the carriers of stories, histories, culture, and feeling.

We need to recognise that every single thing within the home has an energy level of its own, and everything must make a positive contribution to the whole. It’s about inner balance: delving deeper than décor to show how our homes are the key to living well.

Positivity: Burel Mountain, hands-on and zero waste woven blankets from Portugal.

The chaos of a studio or the chatter of an office offered exchanges and collaborations that made us more creative. In their absence, your collection of ceramic tiles might be more important than the dining table with extendable leaves. That lamp you just got out of necessity is your pet now. Maybe you wish you actually had a lamp that went beyond function, had more character, colour, personality. After spending so much time with this lamp, you look at it differently now. You might even want to throw it out. (source: melissapenfold.com)

FROM AUSTIN WITH LOVE

WEST THIRD BRAND

Renowned for their handcrafted, limited batch aromas, West Third Brand has formulated sophisticated, quality driven scents from their studio outside Austin, Texas, since 2008. My favorite, Band Of Outlaws, blends desert herbs with breezy Pacific coast freshness, while Crazy Enough brings forth country garden floral notes.  Lost California, truly unisex in appeal, is touched with fresh hay and earthy meadow scents.

West Third has been a key player in the world of niche fragrance, each scent, each aroma, being an easy-to-wear, minimalist blend of earthy botanicals that evokes this brand’s straightforward American style.

Formulated to ensure luxurious quality and a clean burn, candles are hand-poured with premium natural wax, highly concentrated fragrance oils and have cotton wicks.

"Creating fragrances in the classical sense in the way we do takes time, lots of time, nurturing, patience… endurance, and most times many, many tries before the definitive scent is born. Many ideas and concepts for our fragrances are born out of intuition, that are tied to influences from the past and/or current ones. However, this is where the story starts, and the notes are weaved around that story…while blending, the story becomes richer with lots of twist and turns," shares founder and creative director Michael Loring Probst.

For all of the things with which you choose to surround yourself, may they bring you comfort, solace, strength and wisdom.
